Mr. Alexander Kats was born and raised in Chernovtsy, Ukraine. In 1966 he won the third prize in the High School Mathematics Olympiad of Ukraine and graduated from high school. He graduated from Voronezh University with a Master’s in Mathematics in 1971, and from the City College of New York with a Master’s in Computer Science in 1984.
From 1975 to 2005 he worked as a computer consultant in Russia and the USA. With more than 40 years of experience, he has taught students on different levels, including gifted, average, and below average levels. He also published a textbook for algebra and geometry, “Math at your fingertips,” with Leib Katz. His major achievements include:
• Developing a Unique Approach in Studying
• Participating in the Training of Two Math Gifted Students for the European Mathematics Olympiad
• Preparing Gifted Students for Participation in the Math Olympiad of New York City and the United States of America
• Helping a Failing Student Improve His Grade from 42 to 86 within a Short Period of Time (and Many Others)
